Today, Alamo held its Independence Day parade, but not many people attended. I anticipated that there would be a lot of children in the crowd.
However, the smiles of the people I did see indicated that they had a great time. The creativity displayed in the people's car carts where amazing....
I will always hold deep respect for the veterans from long ago who fought for our country. These individuals deserve more than just gratitude; they deserve to be given the world.

I'm not sure how to explain what occurred today. I'm uncertain whether Alamo failed to promote the event in advance or if the people from Alamo simply chose not to attend.
However, one thing is certain: the smiles of the residents of "Trophy Gardens" were amazing.
I met a neighbor whom I had never encountered before. I only knew her by name, but I was familiar with her husband, Arturo Espinosa, the former chief of police from Alamo.
Arturo's wife told me that they host this event annually. I wish them continued success and hope it will be even larger next year.
One thing I want to point out is that if you plan to advertise snow cones in your flyers, set up a snow cone stand and give them away to people and kids.
The most disappointing aspect of this parade was seeing many important individuals who only greeted people they knew, ignoring everyone else.
Alamo should begin to open up and embrace everyone. Greeting others and acknowledging people in the city of Alamo can make a positive difference.
A person I didn't know approached me, greeted me, and shook my hand, which was very kind of him. This man displayed education and class. If more people were like him, the world would be wonderful.
Let's hope next year's Ice Cream Parade turns out better for them, and they manage to have ice cream available. Selling it for just 50 cents would still be a success.
